Costa Rica – a country-reserve, where a riot of wild flora and fauna surrounded by mountains and oceans. In Costa Rica for more than 70 national parks, almost 30% of the country’s protected areas. It is home to a lot of different animals.
However, much more interesting to observe crocodiles up close. On the river Tarcoles there are several places where you can ask for a ride on a boat. At the same time, by the way, on this river a lot of different birds, but more on that next time.
Check out previous posts on Photo Vide:
It is believed that crocodiles appeared about 250 million years ago in the Triassic period. Of living organisms, the closest relatives of crocodiles – the birds.
All crocodilians have any names. This was called Lady Gaga
And this friend, sad lying among the yellow leaves, kakbe telling us that autumn came, I met on the Sarapiqui River. Crocodiles there rarity:
On the Costa Rica huge number of lizards in general and iguanas in particular. In the dry season (December to April), iguanas can be found almost everywhere (although in extreme trip in January of this year, surprisingly, no iguana, except flattened out on the road, has not been met). They often sit on the branches of trees or on the warm sand near the sea and basking. Lots of iguanas on the Sarapiqui River.
By the way, thanks to the bright colors, quiet disposition and getting on with everyone, common iguanas are often bred and kept in the premises as pets.
Through a flexible tail animal is not only a good swimmer, but also able to apply the tough-as-whip strikes. Like many other species of lizards, the animal can leave the tail in the teeth or claws of a predator, and eventually grow a new one.
And it’s green basilisk . Often it is then called a lizard Jesus Christ for what he is able to run on water. This is a male:
It doe. It is smaller and without ridges:
In Costa Rica, home to four species of monkeys. Howler monkeys , probably the largest and certainly the most vociferous of the monkeys of the country. They shout very loudly. At night in the woods even get scared …
Central American spider monkey . This and a couple of her colleagues were very aggressive attitude. The monkeys were trying to cast aside our branches, thrown off a log, and then tried to piss and obgadit! Be careful in the forests of Costa Rica!
Capuchin – perhaps the most common monkey in Costa Rica:
They were fun to watch
Sometimes the Capuchins, in spite of its small size, can attack a person in order to select something. This recently been robbed of some tourists backpack and pulled out Twix.
Squirrel monkey, or squirrel monkey lives in Manuel Antonio National Park on the Pacific Ocean:
Because of the characteristic color of the head (light patches around the eyes in a dark face), squirrel monkeys are sometimes called “dead head”.
Among primates squirrel monkeys at the highest proportion of total brain mass to body weight (1/17) is approximately two times higher than in humans.
Well, in the end some dragonflies and butterflies. They are in Costa Rica is also complete.
Butterflies, fossils are known from the Jurassic period, are now one of the most species-rich groups of insects – in the squad there are more than 158,000 species.
To be continued. The second part will be crabs, birds, lizards …
