Elvis Presley: “The only time I feel alive … this is when I am in front of my audience, to the people. This is the only time when I feel like a man. After a long time after I’m gone, what I did today is someone to listen. I just want to give them all the very best that I have. ”

In the book “Elvis Presley’s Memphis” features rare photographs of the King and his favorite city. In this collection – 21 photos in this book. The photos were taken from the archives of 169-year-old Memphis newspaper «Graceland and The Commercial Appeal».

8. Dewey Phillips – the leading radio show “Red Hot and Blue” in the 1950s was considered one of the greatest DJ’s of his era. His program, in which he kept his perfect record in the style of blues, country, R & B and dance hits, helped to prepare the audience for the approaching southern states of the wave of rock ‘n’ roll.
