Ancient observatory Jantar Mantar in Jaipur, India

Ancient Indian ruler Maharaja Jai Singh II was known for his passion for astronomy and for the period from 1727 to 1734 he built in his home country five observatories of the stars. The most unusual of these is the astronomical observatory Jantar Mantar, consisting of several buildings of a special geometric shape.
