Most people use a camera to capture their memories while on vacation. Unlike these usual methods of commemorating a holiday memory, designer Teresa Lim adopts a mobile needle and thread approach by taking time to embroider her surroundings on site when she is traveling.
More than just an average photo, Teresa has a collection of embroidered landscapes from places like Tokyo, Berlin, Hanoi, London and Perth.
“I started the project late 2014 after I realized that with today’s state of the art technology, taking pictures becomes so easy” Lim stated once. “I wanted something more from my travels, to be able to take back a part of that place with me. When I’m done with a piece, I actually feel like I KNOW that place, and that gives me a huge sense of satisfaction that I think just taking a photo wouldn’t give.”
