Nairobi – Kenya is not only the capital, but the starting point for trips to East Africa. Often the city and its surroundings have been neglected, leaving only the memory of the dust and the hellish traffic jams.
We decided to dedicate a day just around Nairobi on third visit to the city. Looking through the window of a nearby hotel spaces Nairobi National Park, the animals we did not see, so instead of the park decided to go to a rehabilitation center elephant orphanage David Sheldrick.
He is not as well known among tourists and visit as the nearby Giraffe Centre, but is unique and leaves a lasting impression. If you have a free morning, it is necessary to call in here!
By the time appointed gather around the entrance of the white, which, after payment of the ticket, carry past the empty cages and left around a small enclosed area, which placed the bottle resembling giant nipples for baby:
After a couple of minutes from the depths of the forest elephant appears and literally skipped sent to the bottle:
Sated, he also playfully runs away into the bushes. Where are the other elephant calves? Surely it’s all pets?
In anticipation of seeing gazelles and warthogs, which went into the center of the park.
Among the tourists revival: “Lead, lead”:
The first feed the little ones. They are not used to a big family and go out in small groups:
Not all take food from human hands, so for those who got to the shelter recently, elephant replaces large rag, which is served from the nipple
Leather toddler soft and very vulnerable. In the nature of the sun’s rays to protect elephants mother back in rehab use the veil:
Slonyata very hairy:
Kids say the people in green scrubs their moms …
Hold on to them … …
Play … …
Not far behind … a single step:
Quenching his thirst elephant calves themselves are going to interact with people.
Center workers do not interfere, but watching the security. Communication elephants with tourists is strictly limited to one hour, the animals were wild and were able to normally exist in the wild.
Do not you think that they are all the same? No, not the elephants and people. This is no accident. All employees wear uniforms that elephants do not become attached to some one, and get used to living in a large family:
Feeding time has come to an end, we must give way to the next group. Slonyata obediently and without any command followed their leader:
Workers change the bottle. For quite a long time could not nurse very young elephant calves. Milk pets they do not fit and they died. Now the center has developed a special mixture, which is based baby food for the people.
The second group consists of teenage elephants. They are not so obedient, and constantly find out the relationship.
Almost everyone already eating leaves and drinking water
Take a mud bath:
Splashing and playing:
Somehow slonyata love when they blow in the nose:
Every kid here has its own tragic story. But after a few years, most of them grow up and move into the Tsavo National Park. There they will meet and take an elephant into a large family of their older relatives from the shelter.
