Amazingly Realistic Miniature Dioramas by Satoshi Araki.
Satoshi Araki’s obsessive attention to detail makes his work simply stunning. If it wasn’t for the reference of the finger that appears in some of the pictures, it would be very hard to distinguish these miniature dioramas from real pictures of garbage dumps, bombed cities or abandoned neighbourhoods.
For the most part, Araki uses Styrofoam board, which he cuts, paints and glues together to create convincing dioramas. Every detail is accounted for, including the small lettering on the aluminum cans.
The 45-year old Tokyo-based artist makes a living by crafting miniature models of towns, cars, bicycles and almost anything. But his specialty seems to be chaotic cityscapes that are the result of urban decay or warfare. Enjoy!
