It is hard to imagine a Christmas holiday table in the Czech Republic without carp (Vánocní kapr). This tradition emerged in South Bohemia from the Cyril and Methodius – Franciscan monks were the first to breed carp in ponds and put out baked on the table. It just so happened that this fish is available all costs has become a symbol of the Christmas table. However, across the country this tradition is not so long ago – in the beginning of XIX century.
Soon, in the center of Prague will be the big jugs of water in which to dabble hefty carp, and before Christmas in Old Town Square will put a big pot of fish soup and the mayor will pour it for everyone.

Over 100 kilometers south of Prague is located in the fishing guild Gorusitskom pond where carp are bred and various other fish. Gorusitsky large pond, the area – more than 60 square kilometers And quite deep – up to 6 meters. This is one of several ponds in which the company producing fish bred carp, pike, carp, and so on. The process of cultivation is extended in time – from breeding fingerlings to “harvest” takes place two years.
