Mark Seliger was born in 1959 in Amarillo, Texas, where he lived with his parents, two older brothers and younger sister until 1964, in which the family moved to Houston. Seliger early interest in photography emerged when his brother Frank promised to give him his camera Diana, if Mark will block the ball and he reaches base by playing in a baseball league for boys. Ball, he, however, has not tipped, but got right up to the base when the ball hit him in the shoulder – and his camera was! Very soon he began to spend all his free time in the dark bathroom, experimenting with film development and printing photos. Seliger attended the High School of Acting and Fine Arts Houston, and later – the University of East Texas (East Texas State), which is already seriously began to study the history of documentary photography.
Photographer moved to New York in 1984. In the 1987th began filming on assignment magazine Rolling Stone, and already in the 1992nd became their chief photographer. During his time at Rolling Stone Seliger shot more than 125 covers, and began a long-term mutually beneficial cooperation with the design director Fred Woodward, which continues to this day. Together they orchestrated a lot of music videos for artists such as Willie Nelson, Lenny Kravitz and Elvis Costello. Currently, Mark Seliger collaborates with numerous glossy magazines, and his list of customers includes major U.S. company. Photos Seliger also received countless most prestigious awards.
