Genuine Banksy mural ‘Spy Wall’ is going for just $350,000 and with a house attached. Given that other pieces by the politically controversial artist Banksy have sold for up to $1.15 million, it’s a pretty good deal.
The piece, entitled “Spy Wall,” depicts three men wearing sunglasses and trench coats – presumably, secret agents – recording conversations on the public phone booth attached to the wall. Located in Cheltenham, England and completed in April 2014, the work appears to criticize surveillance of personal calls for political purposes and Britain’s intelligence and security agency, the UK Government Communications Headquarters. According to the New York Post, the piece was restored after being defaced by vandals, and is therefore protected by railings to prevent future damage.
The previous owner has been vocal about how living with the mural has been “more of a curse than a blessing”.
