Asya Kozina’s recent series of ‘baroque paper wigs’ reappropriates the wild hairstyles of victorian-era women and men using individually crafted sheets, carefully curled and cut into perfectly permed locks. Inspired by classical powdered wigs that were more sculptures than hairstyles, they are majestic.
“Historical wigs always fascinated me, especially the Baroque era. This is art for art’s sake aesthetics for aesthetics, no practical sense. But they are beautiful. Asya Kozina made a series of wigs. Paper helps to highlight in this case the main form and not be obsessed unnecessary details.” – Asya Kozina
